The STIHL MS 162 petrol chainsaw is a reliable entry-level power tool for private grounds maintenance. Whether you want to saw firewood or prune fruit trees, the STIHL MS 162 is a lightweight and robust chainsaw which is suitable for occasional use in a very wide range of applications. It is even possible to fell smaller trees with this dependable chainsaw.

The high-performance STIHL 2-MIX engine is part of the optimally tuned overall system of the STIHL MS 162. It ensures good cutting performance with low fuel consumption. It also means you can reliably achieve precise cuts, with the help of the standard-fitted 3/8” P saw chain with its narrow kerf. Your chainsaw runs smoothly and quietly: the STIHL anti-vibration system reduces the transfer of vibrations to the handle, thereby taking pressure off your muscles and joints.

An especially convenient feature: the single-lever operation enables you to control all functions such as start, operation and stop with just one hand. What’s more, the tool can be effortlessly restarted after a break because the combi-lever with stop function automatically springs back into the operating position. Another comfort feature is the safe and easy tensioning of the chain, particularly facilitated by the side-mounted chain tensioning.

  • FOR SIMPLE AND SECURE RE-TENSIONING. Side-mounted chain tensioning allows for protected, easy and quick chain tensioning and replacement. The tensioning screw is inserted laterally through the sprocket cover.
  • REDUCED MAINTENANCE. The compensator is a control system in the carburettor, which uses pressure compensation to ensure that engine performance, exhaust gas quality and fuel consumption remain virtually constant over a long period of time, despite increasing contamination of the air filter. You do not need to clean the air filter until there is a noticeable drop in performance. This means that you can work for a long time without maintenance.
  • SIMPLIFIED OPERATION. Only one start position is required on the combi lever. Thanks to the stop function, once the machine is turned off the control lever immediately moves back into the operating position. This allows a warm machine to be restarted immediately.
  • The STIHL 2-MIX engine is both powerful and economical. Separating the exhaust emissions from the unburnt gas minimises scavenging losses, and therefore increases the power output while reducing consumption.

    The two-stroke engine with STIHL 2-MIX technology saves up to 20% of fuel and reduces emissions by up to 70% compared to STIHL 2-stroke engines of the same performance class without 2-MIX technology.
  • Intense vibration at the handles of power tools can lead to longer-term effects of blood vessels in the hands and arms. STIHL have therefore developed an effective anti-vibration system where by the oscillations from the machines engine are dampened which significantly reduces vibrations at the handles.
